Your Pets Are Treated Like Family at Corrales Kennel

By Paul Rowe

Nestled in the heart of Corrales, New Mexico lays Corrales Kennel, an indoor and outdoor pet kennel surrounded by cottonwood trees. Employees at Corrales Kennel don't just believe that pets should be treated like family: they believe that pets should be treated like their own family.

With a fully trained, dedicated staff ready to take care of beloved pets at a moment's notice, Corrales Kennel is committed to providing exceptionally loving pet care. All of the runs at Corrales Kennel are indoor/outdoor, so dogs and cats can bask in much-needed doses of sunshine in the covered outdoor areas, or lounge about in the climate-controlled indoor area. Dogs who need a bit more exercise than their outdoor run can take advantage of large enclosed dirt exercise runs.

"The dogs have a 5 x 5 square inside and an enclosed patio that is 4 x 10 accessed through a doggie door," says Kennel Manager Judy. "The runs are cooled in the summer and heated in the winter. We do not do group play, although the dogs are all able to look outside and see what is going on around them."

The cat kennel is located in a separate building, heated and cooled, where only furry felines reside in a roomy kitty condo with two perches and a window view. Kittens are treated like royalty in this exclusive area.

All pets are fed Science Diet Advance Fitness or Lamb and Rice, in regular and small bites, and Corrales Kennel employees follow feeding schedules and amounts dictated by pet owners, be it one feeding a day or three.

Corrales Kennel offers pet-grooming services from two highly experienced groomers who groom everything from the largest Great Pyrenees to the smallest Poodle.

"We do clips and brush outs and bathes. All grooming includes toenail clipping, ear cleaning, and expressing the anal gland if needed," says Judy. "All dogs are in an indoor/outdoor run with water and blankets during the grooming. We offer de-skunking, flea and ticks dips, and shampoo."

With this kind of attention, at Corrales Kennel all furry creatures feel like they're in the comfort of their own homes. The only thing that might throw them off is the other animals out and about. "We have two horses, two pigs, two goats, and chickens," says Judy. "We even sell fresh eggs."

Whether dog or cat, chicken or goat, pig or horse, all animals find a caring home at Corrales Kennel.
