Yes Organic Boutique and Spa Soothes the Skin and the Spirit

By S. Mathur

For anyone looking for an afternoon of truly organic indulgence, there is no better place than Yes Organic Boutique and Spa in Albuquerque. The salon is also an apothecary, and visitors can have a wonderful time browsing the fascinating products and mix their own skin care potions. With intriguing products like herbal bath cupcakes, goat's milk soap and lip balm, and exfoliating scrubs made with rose, lavender, and tangerine, the experience is as calming to the soul and senses as it is beneficial to the skin.

"We are also an apothecary so we make natural and organic beauty and wellness products by hand," Brianna Crow, the boutique's manager, said. "We also allow customers to come in and make their own apothecary products such as perfumes, body scrubs, and salves. We are here to help you make your own customized apothecary product, and if you're low on time, we can make a customized product just for you!"

Spa services include organic facials and head-to-toe waxing. All facials use organic skincare products from the Eminence line, and are customized for the particular needs of each client. For example, the Eight Greens Facial uses antioxidant rich and anti-inflammatory ingredients to prevent breakouts and to give the skin a healthy, youthful look. The Yam & Pumpkin Pro Enzyme Peel and Facial exfoliates, Effleurage incorporates lymphatic drainage, and the Stone Crop Facial Stone reduces signs of aging and sun damage.

"Organic products are important to us, because just like eating organic foods, using organic beauty products is a lifestyle to better your wellness as well as the wellness of the environment," Crow said. "Approximately 60 percent of any product that you put on your skin, the largest organ, will be absorbed and that is why it is so important that your products are natural and organic."

Staff also enjoy helping customers to pick the right products, choosing among the Eminence line, the salon's apothecary products, or makeup from 100 percent Pure or Honeybee Gardens Cosmetics. There's even a little library of books about herbs and apothecary products that customers can browse while waiting for their treatments or to discover more about organic skincare.

"We also love to have fun at Yes Organic Boutique and Spa," Crow said. "We offer classes from time-to-time and we also like to have free events for the public to enjoy as well. In the near future, we will be launching a subscription service where we will send out a monthly box filled with everything you would need to make your own natural beauty product."

For those who can't make it to the store in person or who live far away, the good news is that there's an Etsy store where they can shop online.
