Tree of Life Massage Offers Therapeutic Massage for Pain Relief and Relaxation

By S. Mathur

Many people suffering from chronic pain or recovering from injuries or illness find that massage helps them when no other treatments can. Chrystal Copeland, BA, LMT, CPMT, CIMT, explains how it can help reduce long-term physical pain: "Massage therapy has enormous benefits ranging from treating chronic disease, neurologic disorders and injuries to alleviating tensions of an active lifestyle."

From infants to seniors, for pregnancy and post-partum conditions, for sports and for relief and recovery from chronic pain and injuries, massage therapy complements and boosts other treatments.

According to the Touch Research Institute, the long term benefits of massage therapy are numerous. Copeland says that it "helps reduce muscle pain, enhances sleep quality, lessens depression and anxiety symptoms, decreases stress hormone (cortisol) levels, alleviates nausea in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, enhances immune function, increases circulation, decreases migraine pain and frequency, and promotes healing."

Tree of Life Massage specializes in several different types of massage, for every season of the year and every season of life. The different types of therapeutic massage for pain relief and relaxation include pregnancy, postpartum, sports, deep tissue, therapeutic, pain management and medical massage. Sessions last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes and are tailored to individual needs.

Copeland graduated from the Crystal Mountain School of Massage Therapy in 2008 and opened Tree of Life Massage the next year. Her skills as a massage therapist are attested by clients. When it comes to trusting a stranger with handling your body, particularly after an injury or illness, both the therapist and client face a big challenge. Copeland's skill and experience, as well as the setting, help clients to relax and benefit from the therapy.

Clients describe the setting as one of healing, comfort and professionalism. Copeland has added to her professional qualifications with advanced certification in Pregnancy Massage and in 2012, she became a certified Pediatric Massage Therapist and Certified Infant Massage Teacher through the Liddle Kidz Foundation.

Pediatric and infant massage again require a special relationship of trust, also involving parents. Client testimonials speak to Copeland's patience and gentleness in dealing with children, including autistic children who can't tolerate being touched. Likewise, clients getting pregnancy massages report that it aids in easier recovery, even from C-sections.

Seniors too can benefit from massage therapy, as it can help them to deal with the pain of chronic diseases, relieve the stiffness of joints that comes with age, and relax the nervous system. All of these make the regular activities of day to day living easier and also safer. Senior clients' overall health is evaluated before recommending massage therapy.

Sessions can be booked online, and gift certificates in various denominations are available. For more information please be sure to visit her website at
