The Critters & Me, An Advocate for Your Pet's Health!

By Elisha Neubauer

The Critters and Me is not your ordinary pet store.

They believe, as a fundamental basis of their business, that proper nutrition is the key to our pets' health and that nutrition is determined by the quality of the feed that they consume. Led by Laura Moore, owner of The Critters and Me, the shop was launched in 1998 with the intention of bringing Moore's love of animals and their welfare to the community.

When it comes to feeding your pets, The Critters and Me wants you to know that it's not that different than feeding yourself. Foods that are excessively processed or originate from contaminated sources (those that are exposed to chemical pesticides and herbicides) just don't offer quality nutrition.

They're also thought to add to the development of digestive problems and allergies. This is exactly the reasoning behind why The Critters and Me does their research, insisting on knowing and understanding where manufacturers source the ingredients for their foods and under what conditions their foods are manufactured.

"By providing the highest quality foods without non-nutritive fillers and by-products we can promote better health in our pets and eliminate many of the common allergy and health problems," says Moore.

The shop offers a wide variety of products to suit your family's pet needs. This includes dog and cat foods, as well as wild and domestic bird seed, horse feed, goat feed, and organic poultry feed. "We even have specialty food like mice, rats and crickets for your snakes, rabbits, rodents, fish, turtles or lizards," explains Moore.

For 17 years, The Critters and Me has been in the Santa Fe area with a strong devotion to advocating for the health and well-being of domestic animals. In addition to offering the highest quality pet products, the shop has turned to focus on educating its consumers, teaching pet owners the importance of quality food and care and its result on the health of the animal. They encourage customers to ask questions and do their research.

"That is why we train our staff and strive to provide a level of informed service that is hard to find in the market place today," says Moore.

Clearly, the shop has been doing something right. Of its 17 years in business, the shop has been voted Best Pet Store in Santa Fe for 12 consecutive years. "We are very grateful to our loyal customers and applaud their conscientious approach to pet care," Moore affirms. A rewards program and a New Customer Discount are also available to encourage guests to jump on the bandwagon and provide the best care for their pets.
