Special Touch Catering Lives Up To Its Name With Custom Menus, Exceptional Service

By Pamela Sosnowski

Special Touch Catering is one of the oldest catering companies in the Albuquerque area, having been established in 1983 by Tony and Cheryl Gallegos and their daughter, Tammy Montoya. After the Gallegos both passed away, Montoya took over the family business to continue what her parents started: a catering company dedicated to complete customer satisfaction, the highest quality food, and attention to detail.

"We are a local family owned business and have been established for 34 years," Montoya said. "With the passing of my parents, I continued to operate Special Touch with the same passion to create a special and memorable event from beginning to end for our customers."

That often includes creating a menu around a particular theme; one customer review raves about the traditional and contemporary southwestern cuisine Montoya and her team developed for an engagement party that had a New Mexico theme. Presentation is just as important as flavor to Montoya; everything from appetizers to desserts are neatly displayed and made with ingredients that compliment each other.

Montoya describes her company's menu as "versatile, with a wide variety of options." Special Touch's offerings begin with breakfast and hot entrees that include breakfast burritos in two different sizes, egg tarts, casseroles, biscuits, and French toast. The box lunch menus, popular with local businesses, feature pita sandwiches, wraps, main dish salads, desserts, and beverages. The main dish salads offer tantalizing combinations such as citrus shrimp, crab pasta, Oriental beef, grilled chicken pear, and more.

Special Touch also offers a selection of "Take and Bake" menu items, entrees that have been put together and just require heating for a no-fuss, hot meal. Offerings on the take and bake menu include meatloaf, beef stroganoff, chicken cordon bleu, salmon with creamy dill sauce, and more. Customers can choose from a variety of dishes that contain beef, chicken, pork, or fish, and pasta options along with side vegetables, starches, and desserts.

The company has catered a variety of events from birthday parties to large-scale weddings and fundraisers. Montoya and her staff can accommodate any size event and budget, and clients are not restricted to the menus posted online; custom menus can be easily created.

Special Touch also manages its own on-site banquet facility which is ideal for small to medium sized gatherings such as showers and rehearsal dinners. The banquet is the venue for two annual tea events hosted by the company on Mother's Day and during the holiday season. The tea events are by reservation only and include four courses of food unlimited tea in several selections.

The company serves all of New Mexico and requires at least 48 hours for all orders. The Special Touch team is happy to answer any questions and discuss menu options. To request a quote online or learn more about Special Touch Catering, visit www.sptcatering.com.
