Say Cheese for Cristy Cross Photography

By Jake Levin

If you're crossing through the Land of Enchantment, chances are you'll be enchanted by the breathtaking scenery the fifth-largest state in the country has to offer.

Cristy Cross is fortunate enough to own and operate her very own photography business there, with a focus on capturing special moments for the citizens in and around the Clovis, N.M. area.

Cross graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in photography and comes fully licensed and insured. There's nothing she loves more than taking photographs, which is a pastime she takes quite seriously. She hopes her customers do, too.

"It is important to hire someone that knows how to operate their camera properly, not just in auto [mode], Cross said. "Someone who can work in difficult situations and know which lens to use in the appropriate settings."

Cross's portfolio is chock full of magical moments, including events such as weddings, engagements, bridal portrait sessions and family portraits.

She said that in addition to making sure a photographer knows how to operate the equipment, it is pivotal the photographer is on the same page as their clients. If everyone is simpatico, the proof will show through in the finished product.

"If you are looking for a wedding and portrait photographer, make sure your personality and style matches up with theirs," Cross said.

Cross said that her end goal is to create memories for clients which can last for a lifetime, adding that she considers it a blessing to get to work with people in such a manner. Cross developed a love of photography from an artistic standpoint at first, unsurprising given her location in New Mexico.

With the passion for art came the passion for capturing key moments in people's lives, a form of art in its own right.

"My love for photography first came from an artistic point-of-view," Cross said. "It then lead to creating photographs of people and prominently shooting portraits and weddings."

Much of Cross's work is available on her website, www.cristycross.com, as well as on her Instagram page, @CristyCrossPhoto.
