Foul Play Cafe: Murder, Mystery and Dinner

By Jessica Metcalf

Care for a little murder mystery with your meal? Opened in Albuquerque in 2011, the Foul Play Cafe will serve you up a four-course dinner along with an interactive theater experience. According to Cora Brittain, the Foul Play Cafe was created when,"My business partner, Eddie Dethlefs, was involved with another dinner theater locally for the better of a decade, and I attended most of their shows and just found them too fun. When the owner of that one retired, we decided to create our own brand and continue the tradition."

The Foul Play Cafe's upcoming show, opening in June 2015 is called, "Murder At The Abilene Saloon" and is, according to Brittain,"a fun, spaghetti-style western show with musical numbers and outrageous characters."

Past shows have included "Game Show Murders" and "The Art of Murder." More unusual topics to come include "Elaine Whales and The Mummy of King Khufu" in fall of 2015 and "Mumm's The Word" in 2016. All shows have a murder mystery element that includes a lot of laughs. Some even ask the audience to jump up and do some dancing!

If you are looking for a fun night out in Albuquerque that includes laughter, sleuthing, dining and entertainment, than the Foul Play Cafe is a perfect place to spend your evening. Just make sure to keep your eyes open for clues!
