Explore Your Creative Side Alongside Snacks, Wine, and Friends

By Courtney Clark

Albuquerque is home to Sisters Paint & Wine, a local painting studio that offers lessons for students of all experience levels and ages. The relaxing studio is perfect for learning, features a wine room, and offers Old Windmill Dairy cheeses. All in all, the studio is a great stop for those who want to explore new or established talent.

Established in 2014, Sisters Paint & Wine offers standard classes and a monthly club membership. Standard classes are targeted at beginner painters. Studio Manager Mallory Kucala explains that these classes are led step-by-step through the painting of the day over a two-hour period. At the end, each student leaves with a complete painting- so "it is a great way to get your feet wet."

For those who are already experienced but want to improve, the studio has the monthly club membership, Artist Alley. Says Kucala, "This membership is a great way to explore your creativity." Members can visit the studio three times a week and choose to either paint on their own with professional guidance, or paint along with any of the classes that are offered.

Members also have the added perk of using studio supplies such as up to ten canvases each month, paints, easels, aprons, and more. Kucala goes on to say that Artist Alley "is a great way to work in a studio environment with like-minded people without bringing the mess to your personal space."

Regardless if a student is a novice or experienced, each visitor can enjoy the intimate studio atmosphere. Designed to be low-stress and non-judgmental, instructors are always available during classes. Sisters Paint & Wine even offers its own wine label, Artistic Wines. This brand, along with New Mexico brands of wine and beer, can be enjoyed while painting. Snacks are provided, and Kucala points out The Old Windmill Dairy Cheeses, "which are diary-fresh and delicious, especially when paired with wine!"

Children are also welcome here. The studio offers children's classes and private parties if they don't want to attend regular classes. Suggested as a refreshing way to celebrate birthdays and other occasions, children's classes offer kids and teen painting options.

Guests and members of Sisters Paint & Wine are in good, paint-splattered hands with the knowledgeable and talented staff. The local-minded company aims to provide as many local products as possible, which only adds to the inviting and inspirational atmosphere. And the staff genuinely enjoys teaching. As Kucala says, "Our customers are always surprised by their own hidden abilities, which is why we love what we do."
